When we were going up, my mother often told us that her favorite cousin was Patsy from Levelland, Texas, and once our family moved to Arlington, TX (maybe 1969?), we visited with Patsy, Everett and their two children Ricky and Sharla who were close in ages to me and Cindy. I have a vague recollection of driving out to Levelland, and in a recent phone call with Sharla, she shared a memory of our two families going to the Six Flags over Texas amusement park. Then I started to recall more of our teenage time together and knowing it was special to have cousins through Mom’s close childhood connections with Patsy (stories for another place and time).
Many decades later, I came across the letter below as I have been going through photos and memorabilia. Aunt Patsy sent this letter to either my Mom or Aunt Darlyne (maybe both), and I think that Patsy’s letter sets up nicely the two McCann family stories linked below. Scroll as need to view the entire letter. (The cutoff inscription below Patsy’s signature is an invitation to visit in Levelland.)
